This is my grandma. I wanted this to picture to properly represent her. Its more colourful, more alive and happier than portraits of older people generally are.

Older people still smile, laugh, make jokes, have play fights and watch silly movies. We seem to be amidst a culture that fears old age so much a lot of us don't give the elderly the respect and correct treatment they deserve. My Gran's still the same person she was when she was 21, what difference should a few laughter lines and a pension book make?

I love the brightness of this photo, and you definitely achieved your goal. It really grabbed my attention with those piercing blue eyes, I really get the feeling of an interesting character from this photo, if that makes any sense at all...
